Increase Personal Productivity by Working From Home Office

Typing these very words right now I am wearing nothing more than my favorite “Nike” shorts and slippers (also “Nike”). I have a glass of cold water beside my laptop to keep me wet (although I do not recommend drinking anywhere near your precious work station). The aircon is on, there is plenty of light. In other words – I am working, in spite of the fact that just 15 minutes ago I was in bed, struggling to get my lazy ass up.

Estimated 65 million people are working from home. Some full time and some part time. The number of ambitious personas working from home is growing daily thanks to improved technology, employer flexibility and worsening daily commutes. Most home builders understand what’s going on. They are already putting home office rooms in the model homes.

The Home Office Computing Magazine has conducted a study and found out that 96-98% of people who work from home are happier than they were when they worked at an office. And every single one of those business owners said that he/she recommends this lifestyle to others.

Some people are afraid making the shift from work place to a home office because they believe they won’t be able to resist readily available distractions. However, according to the same study, working from home increases productivity by 15-25%. This is just another example of how fear is just an illusion and needs to be treated as one – ignored.

I can be out of bed and into productivity in less than 10 minutes. If you spend 45 minutes arriving at work than it is a 90 minute daily commute you can cross off out of your daily schedule. 90 minutes a day grows into 7.5 hours a week and into astonishing 9 weeks a year. So, you can cross off 2 month plus a week of productive work time out of your calendar right on January 1st. Making this up just to break even takes twice that not to mention awful, annoying and often hazardous commute.

On my workdays, when I get hungry I don’t take an hour to go to launch. I go to the kitchen, get a healthy snack and back to work in just 10-15 minutes. I can even watch my favorite Tivo’ed show while I consume.

I make phone calls and send emails lying on my favorite orthopedic couch and even if I decide to take a 2 hour nap – I am still way ahead of an “office schedule.”

Socializing is not an issue as well. While I take five to breathe outside I often fetch my cell phone with me and make couple of calls to catch up with my friend. Note: after I am done catching up – cell phone’s GONE!

Sure, there are tradeoffs. Office often expands to other rooms around the house and business is always on my mind. But that beats the 90 minute commute plus unnecessary expanses I would have to make to get an office downtown. It’s a trade worth making.

How To Make Cash By Marketing Other Persons Products

The marketing of affiliate products on the internet can be a profitable choice for those looking to earn cash online as soon as possible. Motivated Miles – Turn Your Drive Time Into Personal Productive Power

Recently, I took a sales training class. That by itself is probably not very exciting. The cool part is that I took the majority of the class while driving in my car!

Most of us spend hundreds of hours in our cars and drive thousands of miles each year. While there are many ways to spend this time, you can turn your drive from a monotonous daily routine into a productivity powerhouse activity. You don’t have to take a sales class to make this happen. There are dozens of ways you can better utilize this time but let me briefly explain what I did.

I signed up for an online class about sales training. The lessons were all in MP3 format. Each week, I would download the lessons onto my MP3 player. I would then listen to them while driving to and from work. My commute is 25 miles each way so I would have around 30 minutes every morning and afternoon to listen to, reflect on and think about the material being presented. As I listened, I could easily stop the program when I wanted to think about an important topic. I would have a notepad and pen available if I wanted to jot down a quick note (always keep your driving safety in mind). I could also use my phone to record a quick audio note to myself on that subject. Throughout the week I could repeat the lesson if necessary to ensure I understood the entire topic. The key point is that it did not take away from my personal life to complete this course. I drive to work every day anyway. I was simply making better use of the time and drive I was already making.

So how do you spend your drive time? Are you filling your mind with positive information? Are you improving your life while you go from place to place? There are many options you can use. There are motivational and inspirational CDs that cover all kinds of personal development topics from goal setting to eliminating procrastination. There are classes and instructional programs like the sales training course that I took. There are inspirational music and relaxation tapes. It’s up to you to determine what you would like to do with your time and how you would like to improve your life. I just want to mention what I did and how it worked for me. When I’m not taking classes while I drive, I listen to motivational tapes from people like Zig Ziglar and Tony Robbins. When I’m not listening to anything in the car, I am brainstorming for ideas on a particular problem or challenge. Drive time is a great time to think!

Analyze how you can make better use of your commute. Fill your mind with positive messages. Fill your time with personal development. Turn your many miles into motivated miles. Turn your drive time into personal development time. This is an opportunity to get ahead of the crowd. Look around at the other drivers. Don’t do what they are doing, do what high performing people are doing and use your time to its fullest potential. Get on the road to success today!

Increase Personal Productivity by Doing Less

Recent studies have shown multi-tasking is not effective. Yes you can walk and chew gum, however, there are limits to balancing multiple tasks, texting while driving, answering cell calls in meetings… I question how this furious activity impacts productivity. Concentration is the key. Could it be that it is not only what we do but what we choose NOT TO DO, that delivers results.

How is it that doing less can increase your productivity? Here are several ideas.

1. Take time to plan. If you do not know where you are going, any road will get you there. A plan saves time you focus on what should be done and eliminate the time wasters. “There is no point in doing well, that which you should not be doing at all.” Thomas Connellan

2. Stop and reflect. Step away from your desk, phone and computer when you are feeling “out of control”. If you are in an office take a walk outside, I take my dog for a walk. Ask your dog what time is it? She will tell you NOW! Be in the now.

3. Consult your “dashboard”. When I created my strategic plan I developed a dashboard. This is a list of the critical items I need to do on a regular basis, some daily, weekly or monthly. The dashboard enables me to stay focused on these result-producing activities and not get pulled off track by the tyranny of the urgent.

4. Take a break. Change things up, sometimes we keep pushing in a direction with diminishing results. Go to the gym, do something different to recharge your battery. By changing direction you create energy and refresh yourself.

5. Call a meeting with yourself. Often I say “How do I know what I think until I hear what I say.” If a project becomes all consuming, step away and review your priorities and then renew action.

6. Eliminate items from your “to do list”. Go down the list and cross items off that you are NOT going to do. It is totally liberating and empowering. Yes, you decide, you are in charge of your life.

7. Eliminate distractions. Don’t answer the phone. Stop checking your emails all the time; develop specific times to open emails. Stay focused on the one thing you want to accomplish TODAY!

The above are simple steps to focus your energy, feel good about what you are doing and accomplish the things that matter most to you.
